What's in my travel rucksack?

I don't know if it's just me (probably) but when I'm going on holiday, I just don't feel complete unless I have a very heavy rucksack attached to my back!!

This year, I found the perfect rucksack in Primark- for only £9!! What a bargain!!
It's completely white, with rose gold buckles, and is the perfect size to fit in all of my travel bits and pieces.

When flying (or any kind of travelling really) I'm one of those people who literally carry every single item I will ever need and more! Just call me Mary Poppins when it comes to fitting things inside a bag haha!

I can't go away without having a good book and magazine to read, and this time I bought 'Billy and Me' by Giovanna Fletcher, and Elle magazine, to keep me occupied during my flight or any waiting around that I will hopefully not have to endure (fingers crossed there's no flight delays!).

I also don't like to wear a lot of makeup when travelling, especially when leaving aat 2am!! And so I have just packed minimal makeup to apply at the airport, including concealer, mascara, eyeliner, BB cream, my trusted Baby Lips in 'Cherry Me' and my Tangle Teaser hair brush.

Also, a fan and sunglasses always come in handy when flying to a hot country, so I popped those in as well- not to mention my hand sanitiser!!

Obviously my phone, earphones and camera (which isn't below as I'm using it to take the picture duhhh) are squished in there as well.

Anywhooo, I really hope that I haven't forgotten anything and that my bag isn't so heavy that the straps will snap!!

Tanya Burr Tutorial Attempt

After watching the gorgeous Tanya Burr's new makeup tutorial on her Kylie Jenner look, I thought that it looked absolutely stunning and really wanted to try it out myself- which I'm sure was Tanya's aim for us all haha!

Unfortunately for me, I do not own the majority of amazing high end products featured in Tanya's video, so instead I used a range of similar, high street products, which were obviously not as good quality, but still did the job good enough!!

Here are some embarrassingly close up selfies showing my Tanya/Kylie inspire look...

I have included a photo of the products I used below...

Tadaaaa
Real Technique Brushes
Sleek Contour Kit
Collection Shimmer Shades Blush
Soap and Glory Archery Eyebrow pencil
Collection Lasting Perfection Powder
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
Loreal Paris eye shadow palette in 'Smoky'
Rimmel London Gel Liner
Bourjois '1,2,3 Perfect' Foundation
(Although it's not in the photo, I also used Rimmel London lipstick in 'Sugar Plum')

I really love youtube makeup tutorials because I think that they are such a great help when trying to recreate a look!

(Inedible) Strawberry Sorbet

I am always on the lookout for a good moisturiser, especially one that smells good enough to eat!
As The Body Shop opposite my work re-opened on Thursday after being beautifully refurbished, and looked so pretty, new and fancyyyy I just had to take a look inside!

Determined not to spend any more than the loose change in my purse, I limited myself to one purchase only haha! I had already seen the strawberry sorbet in there before, and the lovely woman who worked there told me this product is really great for holidays, as it included aloe vera, which works well as a soothing after sun lotion-especially if kept in the fridge!! The product is £8 (although I got 20% off of this as I used my friends 'Love Your Body' member card!) which I thought isn't too expensive when you consider other moisturisers by The Body Shop.

After this I was completely sold on the product! And went to buy the Strawberry scented one...
It wasn't until I got home that I realised I had accidentally bought the Pink Grapefruit arghhh (I really do not like this scent!!) Luckily they let me exchange the scents and I'm so glad because I think that this scent is so much nicer, and is just so fresh and summery-I am really looking forward to use it on my (hopefully) tanned body on my holiday!

Which moisturiser would you recommend?

My new favourite shop!

Last Saturday me and my friend Emily (check out her awesome blog here!! http://emilyjanewebb.blogspot.co.uk/) went on a shopping spree to buy ourselves some bits and pieces for our holidays. Although we didn't actually buy many things, the few things that we did buy were pretty great, and so I think that that makes the shopping trip quite successful!!

Anywho, Emily decided that it was high time that I took my first trip to Boux Avenue (which is ((a slightly expensive I may add)) underwear and bikini store) and I have to say that it is my new favourite shop!! Apart from anything else, the changing rooms were absolutely AMAZING! Instead of having numbers, each room was named after a fabric (I was in chiffon) and had three sets of lights- Day, Night or Dusk, which I found super cool and fun!

Now, I'm not going to lie, I am someone who usually does the majority of their underwear and bikini shopping in Primark or H&M (I know I'm cheap!!) and so this shop was a very luxurious experience for me!! I fell in love with this bikini as soon as I walked into the store and took absolutely FOREVER trying to decide if I could justify paying for it - knowing full well I didn't really need another bikini for my holiday. The bikini is called Ipanema Bandeau Bikini, and is black (glittery gold on the inside- it's such a shame its hidden on the inside!) and has a beautiful pink and gold metal flower on the top and bottoms-I'm slightly worried the metal will get very very hot in the sun and burn me, not very practical but oh well haha!

After A LOT of dithering about, I finally decided to buy this gorgeous bikini and I'm so glad I did, I cannot wait to wear it on the beach in Ibiza! I'll pop some photos of it below- not of me wearing it of course, I don't think anyone is ready to see that on the internet!! But if any of you are like me and are usually a very boring underwear or bikini shopper, then Boux Avenue is the place to go! You'll love it...I promise!!

P.S. this shopping trip was also rather fab as me and Emily each got two free cookies from Millies Cookies- not ideal for the bikinis we had just bought haha! (I had a milk chocolate chip and a double chocolate one and they were both VERY yummy!!)

What is your favourite shop at the moment?

Holiday Reading

As I may have mentioned before, I am going on holiday very soon (to ibiza with my family eeeee I'm so excited!!) and I am in desperate need of some holiday books to read!
(Inserts pretty beach picture to get me even more excited-if possible!)

When me and my family go on holiday, we're not one of those families who go sight seeing or on a treacherous adventure everyday- far from it!! We just spend our days chilling around the pool or on the beach eating ice cream (my idea of a good time YUM!)

As this is pretty much all we do, I spend a lot of the time laying in the sun with my head engrossed in a good long book! (I often get told off by my mum for weighing down my suitcase with them oops haha!)
But this year I am absolutely stuck for ideas on what to take!? There's not one book that I have in mind for a good read!

So basically, this post is for me to ask you for suggestions for a good summer read! I love anything from Harry Potter to the Perks of being a Wallflower to The Faults in our stars or my recent fave You're the One that I Want by Giovanna Fletcher!! So all suggestions are welcome!

Summer Ombre

Last year was the first time that I ombred (I'm sorry but my poopy computer won't let me put an accent on the e?!)  my hair, however as much as I loved it, last year my hair was considerably longer than it is at the minute, and I also wimped out and only chose for the ends to be blond. THIS year, after having quite a lot chopped off my hair, I asked my friend Tiffany (wonderful enough to do my hair for me both times ((find her here tiffanys-balderdash.blogspot.co.uk - go check her out!)) to dye a lot more of my hair blond so that it goes further up the length, and I have to say I LOVE it, grand job Tiffany, well done *claps and cheers for you*.

Here are a couple of garden snaps showing my new and improved hair...

The hair dye that I used was the Jerome Russell Bblonde Highlighting kit (seen below) and it really is a great and easy kit to use - I would highly recommend!!
Although it did frighten me slightly when I saw that the contents of the bottle was bright blue!!
After seeing my own hair, my younger sister tried her hardest to persuade my mum into dying hers blond too, however in the end, they both agreed on dip dyed pink ends, which I dyed for her myself, and I have to say I' pretty pleased with how it turned out- considering it was my first ever attempt!! (My sister loves it anyway so that's the main thing hahah!)

All in all it has been a successful couple of days and we both have shiny new hair ready for our holiday!

What are your plans for this Summer?

Liebster Award

This morning I woke up to a fab surprise of the lovely Zara from http://zarakate.blogspot.ie/ (check out her blog!!) nominating me for the Liebster Award. This was such a lovely surprise because as you know I have not long since started my blog, and so this was very very exciting! So thank you very much Zara!

The rules are as followed :
  • You must answer all 11 questions given to you by the person who nominated you.
  • You must link back to the person that nominated you.
  • After completing these questions you must nominate 11 bloggers (with under 200 followers) and give them 11 questions of your choice.
  • You can not nominate the person who nominated you.

You must let your nominees know that they have been nominated and provide a link to your post so that they can learn about it.

So lets get started with the questions Zara provided...

1.If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
California!! (I would just love to spend the days surfing- I'm sorry if this is stereotyping but it just sounds awesome!!)

2. Who is your ultimate style inspiration?
I just LOVE Harry Potter, and have done ever since I read the first book when I was in year three. I remember being younger when the Prisoner of Azkaban film was released and Emma Watson wore beige cord trousers through the best part of the film- it made me want them SO bad! I still really look up to Emma Watson's style now, and so I think that she is probably my biggest style inspiration.

3.What book had a lasting effect on you?
Apart from the Harry Potter books (obviously) I think that a book that had a big impact on me was definitely The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Srephen Chbosky. It is such a moving and inspiring sory, and I have re-read it many times since!

4. What clothing item or accessory can you not live without?
Now this is quite an easy question for me, the answer is definitely a pair of black leggings!! They are just super comfy and easy to wear with anything, especially for those relaxing days indoors!

5.What era should you have grown up in?
I think that I would have really loved to have ground up in the sixties, although I am aware that this decision may have been heavily influenced by my love of musicals such as Grease and Hairspray!! Ooops!

6. Who do you aspire to be like?
Throughout my life my mum has always taught me that it is important to be your own person, through both actions and personality, so although there are obviously many people that I look up to, I think that it is important to just be the best and happiest that you can be :)

7. What inspired you to start a blog?
I have wanted to start a blog for a really long time, but having spent many years watching numerous Youtubers (for Charlieissocoollike to Zoella) me and my friend Tiffany started (and failed) our own Youtube channel last year. So instead of repeating this mini disaster, I took inspiration from Zoella, who fist started with her own blog, and decided to crack down on the task of a blog. (And I have to say I am already in love (and obsessed) with blogging!)

8. What is your favourite memory?
I am lucky to have many wonderful memories from when I was younger, the best ones being from going on family holidays each year, even though most consisted of camping (the fist time I went aboard was when I was 11) but these were all such good memories, and so I'm going to answer with a grouped memory of 'Holidays' (haha I am a very indecisive person if you haven't already realised!)

9. If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
As previously mentioned I am a BIG Harry Potter fan, and so it would be an absolute dream for me to meet any of the cast (especially Emma Watson or Rupert Grint!!). Wow that one was a bit easier to answer!!

10. What is your all-time favourite album?
I have to admit that I am certainly not the best when it comes to identifying artists of a song. I tend to just listen to a song if I like it, not because who it is by. But I think my all-time favourite album would be the S Club 7 CD where they are all sitting on a car on the album cover haha! I'm sure you all know which one I'm talking about. This CD just totally reminds me of being a kid, and dancing away at school discos.

11.If you wrote an autobiography, what would you call it?
Although I have had many wonderful memories, unfortunately everyone seems to experience some bad ones too, and I have had a fair few. However! The friends that I have made through my dance school over the last few years have literally been the best that I could ask for, and have definitely helped to make me who I am today! So, I think that I would call my autobiography 'Dancing in the rain'!!

So my nominations are...

And the questions...
1. What is your favourite place you have ever visited?
2. If you could go shopping with any celebrity, who would it be?
3. Would flavour of Ben and Jerrys ice cream would you invent if you had the chance?
4. What would be your last supper, (starter, main, desert and drink)?
5. What book would you most highly recommend?
6. If you could play any character in a film who would it be?
7. What was your favourite toy from your childhood?
8. Who is your all time favourite Disney character?
9. What is your dream job?
10. If there was a book that told the rest of your life, would you read it?
11. Where do you see yourself in ten years time?

Please participate as best you can it's a lot of fun and a great was of sharing your personality, leave a comment with your link to your answers so that I can check your post out!

I Want Thicker Hair!

 L'oreal Paris Elvive Fibrology

I have always had quite thin hair, volume is just out of the question any time I want to do a stylish updo (or even just have it natural!!), so when I saw these products advertised on TV I thought 'I just have to try them out'- especially as they were on a three for £10 offer in Boots (saving me over £6 on the products I chose- pretty awesome deal right?!)

Out of the products available I chose the Thickening Masque, the Conditioner and the Thickness Creation Double Serum. All seen here.
I'm not totally sure how it works, but it contains a substance called Filloxane which penetrates and expands each hair particle- I'm not good with techy stuff, but I do know that it works and I love it!

I now use the Masque and Conditioner every time I wash my hair, although I admit I rarely use the thickening serum as it is best to apply this on dry hair and I usually either forget, or don't want to waste it if I'm having a 'hair up kinda day'.

Anywho, by using the other two products on their own, I have noticed an almighty difference to the thickness and texture of my hair. It has definitely made it a lot thicker on the length, however not so much on the roots, which is where I feel I need the biggest thickness boost (although this could be from me rarely using the serum, OOPS!)

Apart from thickening, I have also found that these products have left my hair feeling much much softer - I usually leave the Masque in for 3 to 5 minutes after shampooing my hair and then rinse before using the conditioner, which I then brush through my hair with my tangle teaser (another awesome product I must add!)

Overall I feel that these are great products, and have certainly made a big difference to my hair!
Also, who doesn't love a great Boots beauty bargain?!

Have any of you tried a different product from this range?

Mini Makeup Haul

Mini Makeup Haul (featuring my real technique brushes and bird cage lamp because why not use something pretty?)

Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Gel Eye Liner seen here
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer seen here
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara seen here
Soap and Glory Archery Brow Tint and Precision Pencil seen here
Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Powder seen here
Collection Shimmer Shades Blush seen here

I recently realised it was time for me to update my drug store makeup staples for summer, and so off I went to boots, to spend a little more than I was hoping (but it as totally worth it!)

I think that it's safe to say there is a bit of an on-going theme of Collection makeup here (does three count as a theme?) but I think that this brand is just SUCH good value for money! My concealer is in the shade 1 (fair) which is slightly too light for my skin tine- I know we all like to brighten our under eyes but this is slightly too far!! And my powder is in shade 2 (medium) which fits perfectly with my skin. I use these two products now practically everyday, and they are especially good for when I only want to wear a bare minimum of makeup.I am also really enjoyin using the shimmer shades which I got in the shade 'Blushalicious'-I think I may be in love with the name just as much as the colour. It creates such a shimmery, pretty glow on my cheeks which is just perfect for summertime!

Now, if you do not have a Maybelline Falsies mascara in your makeup bag, then I'm sorry but you are doing it wrong! I just LOVE this mascara so much, it makes such a difference to my lashes and really gives the impression of falsies. All I can say is a huge thank you to Tanya Burr for introducing this to me through her own blog and videos!

My own eyebrows are rather thick, bushy, and unevenly shaped (I often have to remind myself eyebrows are sisters not twins!) however it does make it super hard for my to shape and make look semi-acceptable. When I saw Zoella use her Soap and Glory Archery pencil, I thought that it would be a great help for my- who has little experience with eyebrow shaping. Zoellawas so right, this product is perfect for if you just want to slightly fill in your eyebrows, or change the shape of them altogether! After a little practice, I found that it is definitely an easy product to use.

I am totally a girl for gel/felt tip liners rather than pencil, however I always find they dry up way too soon. (My last one didn't even make it through a week!!) So when I saw this product I though I'd have to give it a try. I have to admit, the brush that comes with this product is not altogether great, and went hard very quickly, making it hard to make a precise line. Instead, I purchased the Real Techniques Silicone Liner Brush, and I'm so glad I did. These two products work perfectly together, and make it super easy to get that elegant cat eye flick which we all so deeply desire!

Overall I think these products were quite successful, and certainly do the job well without having to spend too much money!

What are your drug store summer staples this year?
